P-Mate - pack of five, £2.68
Who can help but smile at this wonderful little invention. Discreet yet hugely helpful, P-Mate is a little cardboard pop-up tray in its own hygienic disposable wrapper which allows a woman to pee like a man: standing up. The value of this becomes immediately apparent on day three of any music festival when the portaloos are overflowing or when travelling in a country where “squat-hole” is the word of the day. No need to roll-up your trouser legs and try and aim past your shoes, this allows hygienic precision-peeing anywhere you need to go.
The Mooncup is an environmentally friendly, reusable alternative to sanitary towels and tampons. As the name suggests, it’s a menstrual cup that is inserted in a similar way to a tampon but rides a bit lower. Because it’s reusable it’s good for the environment and it’s easily cleaned under running water. It also come in a discreet carry purse with full instructions.
An essential travel accessory. Instantly sanitises your hands without the need for soap or water. There’s a variety of market brands to choose from.
Bottles of shampoo and conditioner always take up space and weigh your bag down. There is an alternative: Lush shampoo bars. Solid bars of shampoo, these come in a range of yummy scents including a combined shampoo and conditioner bar. You can also purchase a handy little tin to carry them in. Light-weight and effective, they keep you looking beautiful whilst on the move.
Available from leading chemists such as Boots and Superdrug, these are nifty second-skin plasters that both relieve, protect and heal blisters. If you’ve got a long way to walk or you’re trying to break-in your new hiking boots, you won’t want to be without them. They stay on the vulnerable area until the skin underneath has healed, then they gently peel-off. Because they are the colour and texture of a second-skin they don’t sand out, so you can still wear your strappy sandals even after you ditch the boots.
