A description of the uses of the beauty product for babies and adults

A tub of Soft & Precious Nursery Jelly is a cost-effective moisturizer aimed at babies but can be used by adults for a variety of skin and beauty care. But is it just 'scented vaseline' or does it have more qualities?

Ingredients and Appearance

Soft & Precious Nursery Jelly is made from 100% white petrolatum, a highly refined solution made from naturally occurring petroleum oils.

It is semi-solid, translucent and white in appearance (similar to Vaseline) and is lightly scented with a baby powder fragrance. It comes in a pink-lidded 368g tub and is available from most cosmetic stores or online.

For Babies

Soft & Precious is primarily marketed as a solution to diaper rash and when applied on babies before each diaper change it is meant to seal out wetness, moisturize and prevent dryness and chafing.

Too much results in greasy skin but liberal application results in moisturized skin and leaves light, pleasant scent.

For Adults' Skin

Soft & Precious can be used as an everyday all-over body moisturizer. It seals in moisture throughout the day (unlike other moisturizers that dry out after a few hours) but too much on certain areas like the forehead may cause spots due to the build-up of grease.

Applied liberally and it keeps skin feeling smooth, especially around areas that experience dryness more frequently like the elbows, knees, heels, toes and the soles of feet.

Soft & Precious retains moisture and is not absorbed into the skin like some other moisturizers and it acts like an oily blanket over the area it is applied to, so too much on the body during the summer and you will feel hot and sweaty, but conversly in the winter it adds a layer of warmth onto the skin.

As a Moisturizer for the Lips and Hands

Soft & Precious can be used daily as a lip moisturizer especially during the winter when the cold weather can cause dryness or chapping. Soft & Precious can also be used to condition dry hands throughout the day.

Due to the large size of the tub, carrying it around can be problematic so putting a small amount into a smaller container will be handy.

Natural Make-up Remover

Soft & Precious can also be used as an alternative to make-up removers by first adding a little water to a cotton pad then dabbing a little Soft & Precious onto it and using it to wipe off eye make-up, foundation, lipstick or other facial dirt or make-up.

The make-up comes off easily onto the pad leaving a clean face, but again use a decent amount on the pad otherwise the face will feel greasy. The mixture of water and petroleum jelly may also be a safer alternative to some chemicals found in some make-up removers.

Conclusion

Soft & Precious is a cheap, simple and useful product to have in the home due to its many uses for both adults and babies as long as the right amounts are used for its various purposes.
