How to Do Skin Brushing Detox

Simple Technique to Boost your Lymphatic Drainage

Many bodily wastes are eliminated through the skin. Regular skin dry skin brushing enhances any detoxification program and makes you feel great!

All you need is a simple natural bristle brush, preferably a brush with a long handle as it enables you to reach those inaccessible parts of your body for a more thorough treatment. Do not use any water; simply brush your dry skin firmly and steadily, with long strokes, always moving towards the heart.

How to Give Yourself a Skin Brushing

The ideal time to carry out a skin brushing is before a shower in the morning. Begin at the soles of your feet and work upwards, not forgetting the sides and tops of your feet. Work up your calves and knees in turn. Brushing strokes over your thighs and bottom can help eliminate cellulite. Brush more gently over your belly and breasts. Brush your back and sides as best you can; this is where a long handle on your brush come in! Repeat the process on your arms, starting with the palms of your hand, brushing briefly up the sides of each finger, back of the hand. Work up your arms; you will feel your body start to tingle as your circulation is stimulated. The whole process takes around five minutes.

The Lymphatic System

Skin brushing enhances the natural detoxification action of the body’s lymphatic system. The lymphatic system consists of tiny vessels with one-way valves through which waste materials drain from the body’s tissues. Unlike the blood circulatory system, which is pumped by the heart, the lymphatic system relies on the contraction of muscles to drain these lymphatic wastes back into the bloodstream via lymph nodes. Skin brushing encourages the efficient elimination of waste via the lymphatic system, speeding up the drainage of substances such as toxins, dead cells and metabolic wastes.

Benefits of Skin Brushing

After a few days of skin brushing your body will glow and your skin will feel soft to the touch. Over time cellulite may slowly be reduced. Any existing build-up of dead skin is removed, indeed you may find that dead skin is washed off in the shower after a few days of skin brushing.

You will also feel the benefits that come with any detox activity, including a general sense of lightness and wellbeing. Skin brushing is a great support to any detox program.

How Often?

Skin brushing is most beneficial carried out daily, in the mornings, before a shower. Take a break from skin brushing from time to time to enhance the detox effect. For example, do not skin brush for one week in every month. You will soon start to look forward to the refreshing feeling of your daily brush, indeed one can crave the sensation after a prolonged break!
