Bath fizzies are a lot of fun to make for yourself and for others. Others are always impressed when you give a beautiful handmade gift.
Bath fizzies are a godsend after a long day at the office or a hard racquetball game. The baking soda helps the body to relax and ease muscle tightness. While the fragrant aroma will help you forget the stressed of the day.
This recipe is simple to follow. An older child would probably enjoy helping you make these great gifts for one another. These are great gifts for moms, daycare workers, teachers, and friends. Just gather up the ingredients and get to work!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup baking soda
- ¾ cup citrus acid – Citrus acid is not really an acid. It is a product made from citrus fruit. It has many uses from cooking and candy making to cleaning, and of course as a key ingredient to bath fizzies. Purchase this at a craft store. May be hard to find depending on the size of town you live in. It can also be purchased online.
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 20 drops fragrance oil – available at a craft or health food store
- 10 drops liquid colorant – available at a craft store
Tools:
- Plastic Bowl
- Wooden Spoon
- Spritzer bottle – A little spray bottle with some water in it.
- Molds – These can be purchased at a craft store. Many are in the candy aisle but they also have some just for bath fizzies. Different molds can be used for different holidays, different gifts, even a special friend.
- Cookie sheet
- Wax paper
Instructions:
- Mix all dry ingredients (baking soda, citrus acid, and cornstarch). Use your hands to break up any lumps. Add the liquid colorant and fragrance oils to the mixture. Start to mix with the spoon and then with your hands to evenly blend.
- Spritz lightly to fine mix, then immediately mix in with your hands. Do not over mist or it will start to fizz up! Mist so it is just damp enough to hold together like a snowball.
- Pack the damp mixture into molds. Pop the molds carefully since they can break easily at this time. Place a cookie sheet covered with wax paper to dry. Leave to dry overnight.
